The Document Delivery Service (DDS) is provided by the Library to obtain materials NOT available at the HSMC Library from document services suppliers.
Eligible Users: All full time academic staff, research assistants and postgraduate students
WHAT materials can be requested?
DDS handles request for the following materials:
- Journal articles
- Book chapters
- Conference proceedings paper
The following types of materials are not included in this service:
- Audio-visual materials
- Reference materials
- Entire issue of a serial/journal
- Theses and dissertations
- Any materials as stipulated by the document suppliers

Eligible users should login their HSMC network account to fill in the Document Delivery Online Request Form. Submit NOW
WHO are the document suppliers?
British Library Document Service
The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library
The City University of Hong Kong Library
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Library
The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology Library
Lingnan University Library
The University of Hong Kong Libraries
The University of Macau Library
WHEN will Library process the request?
Library will process users’ requests within a week in general.
HOW MUCH does it cost?
Eligible users are entitled to 20 free documents in each academic year (September to August).
A cost-recovery charge will apply when the maximum quota of 20 has been reached.
WHERE to receive the requested document?
The document will normally be sent to requesters in PDF format via email when received from document suppliers.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON COPYRIGHT
The DDS is provided in accordance with the Hong Kong Copyright Ordinance. Requests that do not comply with the Copyright laws would not be processed.
