Study Carrels provide a quiet atmosphere for private study and self-learning. They are available for students and faculty members to use for a period of time. Advanced reservation is required.

All HSMC students and faculty members

Room Booking Regulations and Use Policy:

  • Eligible users can make online booking for Study Carrels via the Campus Room Booking System
  • Booking must be made by users with valid HSMC student/staff ID cards
  • Based on a unit of 2 hours per time slot i.e. 9 a.m.-11 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1 p.m.-3 p.m., 3 p.m.-5 p.m., 5 p.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
For Undergraduate Student: Booking can be made 3 days in advance. The maximum number of time slots that can be booked at a time is 1 time slot within 1 day.
For Postgraduate Student: Booking can be made 5 days in advance. The maximum number of time slots that can be booked at a time is 2 time slots within 1 day.
For Faculty Member: Booking can be made 7 days in advance. The maximum number of time slots that can be booked at a time is 4 time slots within 1 day.
  • Users should claim their bookings with their HSMC ID cards via the Campus Room Booking System and check-in via card readers outside the doors
  • Any room that is not claimed 15 minutes after the booking time will be made available to other users
  • Before leaving the room, users are required to turn off the lights of the room, return the furniture to its original setting
  • The Library is not responsible for the security of personal belongings. Any items left unattended in the rooms at the end of a reservation period shall be removed and placed with the Library’s lost and found items
